Tiger Woods is expected to miss the bulk of the 2025 season after rupturing his left Achilles.
The 15-time major champion has cut back on his schedule after numerous injuries, one of which caused by a road traffic accident, and has not played an official PGA Tour event since last year’s British Open.
And he will be sidelined once again for several months after this evening’s announcement.

Surgeon expects full recovery
He wrote on X: “As I began to ramp up my own training and practice at home, I felt a sharp pain in my left Achilles, which was deemed to be ruptured.
“This morning, Dr Charlton Stucken of Hospital for Special Surgery in West Palm Beach, Florida performed a minimally-invasive Achilles tendon repair for a ruptured tendon.
“I am back home now and plan to focus on my recovery and rehab, thank you for all the support.”
Stuck added: ”The surgery went smoothly, and we expect a full recovery.”
Woods was due to play the Genesis Invitational at Torrey Pines on February 13 but pulled out saying he was not in the right headspace to compete following the death of his mother Kultida nine days earlier.
The timeframe for his comeback is not yet known.
