Music icon Dr Dre says he is “serious” about wanting to compete for Team USA in archery at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
The 59-year-old rapper says he practices in garden, shooting from a longer range that is required at Olympic level.
Dr Dre, real name Andre Romell Young, is one of hip hop’s most legendary figures and has also become a successful businessman.
During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, California-born Dre said: “I’m trying to try out for the Olympics in 2028,” he said.
“I’m deadass serious.
“I actually started playing around with archery in junior high [school].
“I stopped for a while and then my son bought me a setup, I don’t remember whether it was for my birthday or Father’s Day or something like that, so I have set it up in my backyard.
“I have it set up in my backyard and I heard qualifying for the Olympics is 77 feet. I practice at 90.”

Dr Dre performed in LA during the closing ceremony of the Paris Games on Sunday alongside fellow rapper Snoop Dogg, who also carried the torch.
USA picked up a silver and bronze medal in the archery at the 2024 Games, with South Korea winning the most successful with five golds.
It remains to be seen whether Dre is serious about the next episode of his career, but his presence at the Games would certainly be explosive should it happen.
