NFL team the Jacksonville Jaguars have agreed a deal reportedly worth $76.5 million with Tyson Campbell which will make the 24-year-old the highest-paid cornerback yet to appear in a Pro Bowl.
Campbell’s four-year contract extension includes $54.4m effectively guaranteed, landing him an average salary of more than $19.1m, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport has said.
The agreement is the sixth-highest for a cornerback in history and fractionally larger than the contract agreed between L’Jarius Sneed and the Tennessee Titans in March.

Jaguars: Campbell ‘incredibly valuable’
Speaking last month, Jaguars defensive co-ordinator Ryan Nielsen called Campbell “one of the finer athletes” he had worked with.
“It’s just the way he’s able to run and transition,” Nielsen explained. “He has a bit of a perpetual motion thing.
“He has been a state champion as a 100-metre runner. That’s incredibly valuable. He has that ball-type movement where he’s not hesitant, stiff. He’s just rolling.”

Campbell joined the Jaguars as a second-round pick in 2021 and had been in his final rookie year before agreeing terms until 2028.
His six interceptions, 30 passes defensed, 203 tackles and two forced fumbles in 43 games included a particularly impressive breakthrough year, recording three interceptions and 15 pass break-ups.
Hamstrings and quad injuries limited him to 11 appearances in 2023, when he registered one interception, five passes defended and one forced fumble.
Tyson Campbell injury: ‘Clean slate’
Defensive backs coach Kris Richard has said he expects Campbell to return to full fitness in the first season of his new contract.
“We don’t control every circumstance but we do control our every thought,” Richard said. “So soft-tissue injuries, whatever took place last year… it’s a clean slate.”
The Jaguars have already given new deals to quarterback Trevor Lawrence, edge rusher Josh Allen and guard Ezra Cleveland during the offseason.
