USMNT star Tyler Adams is set to for another spell on the sidelines after undergoing back surgery.
The Bournemouth midfielder joined the Cherries for a deal worth £20million last summer, but rarely featured due to an injury-plagued campaign.
Having made only four appearances in the Premier League, he travelled home to the US for the home Copa America, where he played in all three group games.
But the hosts were knocked out and now the 25-year-old is to undergo some rehab on a back issue.
Cherries boss Andoni Iraola says Adams had the issue at the end of the last campaign and surgery was the only option.
He said: “He finished the season with an injury in his back.

“He wanted to play Copa America because it was very important for him, but he had restrictions and was still in pain, so two days after they were knocked out, he had surgery.
“He is out for some time. It is difficult to say how long but he won’t be fit for the start of the season. But September? October? I don’t know.”
Adams is with Bournemouth on their pre-season tour of California, but will continue to nurse his injury in the hope of returning in the coming months.
