Team USA Summer Olympics basketball guard Steph Curry has voiced his hope that Kamala Harris will win the 2024 US elections and predicted a “very monumental couple of months” for his “divided” nation.
US president Joe Biden announced on Sunday that he will step aside from running for the Democrats, endorsing Vice President Harris to take on Republican candidate Donald Trump for the presidency.
“These are very interesting times for our country, for sure,” said Curry, of NBA team the Golden State Warriors, speaking from the Olympic Games in Paris.
“The fact that President Biden gave his endorsement and Vice President Harris is trying to bring her energy to this campaign… hopefully she’s on the ticket, winning the election.”

US elections 2024: Curry favours Harris
Curry said Harris “represents” the Bay Area of San Francisco, where the politician was born and raised and the Warriors are based.
“It’s a big deal, to say the least,” said the four-time NBA champion, speaking about elections which will take place on November 5.
“She has been a big supporter of us, so I want to give that energy right back to her. This is a very monumental couple of months for our country and the direction where we’re headed.
“Sport brings a lot of people together and for her, in this moment, knowing what’s ahead, it’s all about positive energy and optimism. You know how divided our country is right now so I’m just excited about the journey for her.”

At the age of 36, Curry has become an Olympian for the first time and could feature when Team USA begin their campaign against Serbia in Lille on Sunday.
“I’ve been imagining what it would feel like forever, really,” he said. “You imagine the excitement of representing your country and being part of [Friday’s] opening festivities.
“I’m excited about it all. We’re representing our country not just in basketball, but in everything else as well.”
