Simone Biles says she has achieved “more than her wildest dreams” at the Olympics despite missing the chance to add two gold medals to her collection.
The American had already won three golds in the team, all-around and vault events before the final day of gymnastics in the French capital on Monday.
But the previously flawless 27-year-old slipped to fifth after falling off the beam in the morning before she was beaten by Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade on floor.
But having returned to the top of the sport following a difficult Tokyo Games three years ago, there was no hint of disappointment for the legendary gymnast.
“I’m not upset about my performance, I’m actually happy, proud and even more excited that it’s over, the stress of it,” Biles told a packed news conference.
“I’ve accomplished way more than my wildest dreams, not just at this Olympics but in the sport, so I can’t be mad at my performances.
“I’m pretty proud of myself and it’s always so exciting to compete.”

Classy gesture
After being egded to gold by Andrade, Biles and bronze medallist Jordan Chiles showed their respect for the Brazilian by bowing to her on the podium after recieving their medals.
“First, it was an all-black podium so that was super exciting for us but then Jordan was like ‘should we bow to her?’ and I was like ‘absolutely’,” Biles said.
“She’s such an excitement to watch. It was just the right thing to do.”
