Simone Biles claimed her third gold medal of the 2024 Olympic Games with another brilliant display on the vault.
The 27-year-old, who helped the United States to team gold and then won the all-round individual crown, finished ahead of Brazil’s Rebecca Andrade with the States’ Jade Carey taking the bronze.
Biles nailed her Biles II vault before a more routine second effort saw her come first with an average score of 15.300. Andrade took silver with 14.966 and Carey scored 14.466.
Biles now has 10 Olympic medals overall and seven golds, despite pulling out of several finals in Tokyo three years ago due to mental fatigue, making her the third most decorated female gymnast of all time.
She is also competing in the finals of the floor and beam on Monday.
