LAFC eye move for France star Antoine Griezmann – report

The France star could be available for as little as €10million

Antoine Griezmann

Los Angeles FC are looking to lure another Frenchman to MLS with a report in L’Equipe suggesting  Antoine Griezmann is on their radar.

The report claims discussions are advancing with LAFC aware Griezmann has 12 months left on his contract at Atletico Madrid and his release clause is now just €10million.

If they were to sign him, it would give the franchise another Les Bleus star alongside Hugo Lloris and Olivier Giroud and provide the league with another narrative to run alongside Inter Miami’s former Barcelona quartet of Lionel Messi, Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets and Luis Suárez.

Griezmann, 33, had a disappointing Euro 2024 and looked woefully out of form as France reached the semi-finals before losing to Spain.

But he has been one of the best players in Europe for the last decade and has suggested previously he would look for a fresh challenge when he left Atletico.

Speaking in November last year, he was asked if he was tempted by the money on offer in Saudi Arabia and replied: “Saudi Arabia? I understand those who have to go there; we’re talking about incredible sums of money.

“Could I go? I have a family, three children. It’s not an easy decision to make. The MLS is still my priority.”

LAFC are riding high in the Western Conference. Steve Cherundolo’s side sit two points behind leaders LA Galaxy but with two games in hand.
