Lionel Messi bodyguard banned from pitchside in MLS

The Argentine will have less protection on the pitch.

Lionel Messi’s personal bodyguard, Yassine Cheuko, an ex-army veteran – has been banned from providing on-field protection for the Argentine star during Inter Miami matches in the MLS.

Cheuko, a former Navy SEAL, gained attention after videos circulated on social media showing him vigilantly monitoring the crowd and intervening to prevent pitch invaders from reaching the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner.

MLS has now decided to take full control of security operations on matchdays, restricting Cheuko’s presence to the dressing room and mixed zones.

“They don’t allow me to be on the field anymore,” the bodyguard told Spanish media.

“I was in Europe for seven years, working for Ligue 1 and the Champions League, and only six people invaded the pitch.

“I came to the USA and in just 20 months, 16 people have already done so. There’s a huge problem here, let me help Messi.”

This decision follows increased concerns over fan invasions, with Messi’s immense popularity drawing heightened security risks during games.

Since arriving at the Florida club, 16 attempts to breach the pitch and meet Messi have been made.

But more often than not, Cheuko has been there to interfere, a layer of safety the World Cup winner will no longer have.

Instead, the bodyguard has turned his attention to social media, where he has challenged influencer Logan Paul to a boxing fight admid Mas+’s legal battle with Prime.
