Neymar has fuelled speculation he is about to reunite with Lionel Messi by buying a plot of land in Miami.
The Brazil forward has endured a miserable spell in Saudi Arabia, making just six appearances for Al-Hilal after joining from Paris Saint-Germain in 2023.
His time in the Gulf has been ruined by fitness worries and, despite recently returning from a serious knee injury, he is expected to move on when his contract expires at the end of the Pro League season in May.
His next destination remains unknown but he may have dropped a clue by purchasing a piece of waterfront real estate in Miami for $26million.
The Wall Street Journal says the plot has approved plans for a 13,000 square foot house.
Bento Queiroz of Compass, who represented the buyer, declined to comment on his client’s identity but said he was drawn to the privacy and security of the gated community, according to the WSJ.
Queiroz said: “It came together rather quickly once we found the opportunity. The buyer said, ‘it’s exactly what I’m looking for.’”
MSN reunited?
Neymar and Messi formed two-thirds of arguably the greatest attacking trident of all-time, along with Luis Suárez, when they played together at Barcelona.
Nicknamed MSN, between them they played a combined 451 times for Barca as a trio, scoring 363 goals and adding 272 assists.
Messi joined Inter Miami in 2023 with Suarez joining not long after. Former Barca team-mates Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets also play for Miami.
The quartet were key in Miami winning the 2024 MLS Supporters’ Shield for the team with the best record in the regular season.
Controversially, that has been rewarded with a place in next summer’s FIFA Club World Cup.
