Uruguay and South Korea will battle in their opening World Cup game of Group H here with all eyes set to turn on the Premier League stars, Darwin Nunez and Son Heung-min, as they look to steal the headlines once more.
Nunez has gradually begun to find his feet in English football with him now scoring five times in the Premier League from 10 games for Liverpool, as well as a handful in the Champions League too.
For Uruguay, Nunez has only scored three times and has just 13 caps under his belt, and a lot of attention will also fall to all-time leading goalscorer, Luis Suarez, who is once again in fine form for Nacional in the Uruguayan Primera División. The former Barcelona star has netted eight goals from 14 games and is in search of goal number 69 from 135 caps for his country in this match.
Uruguay have only lost to Iran in 2022 as well, beating Canada 2-0 in their last game. Other than this loss to Iran back in September, they drew 0-0 with USA in Kansas City, meaning seven wins from nine games in 2022.
As for Korea, they lost 3-0 to Japan in the EAFF East Asian Cup final not too many months back, but they qualified for the World Cup with relative ease, as they finished their qualification process by beating Iran, Syria and Lebanon with clean sheets in each game. On the other hand, they will struggle to do that again here.
