Bristol City vs Stoke City match preview

Two sides with sights on a return to winning ways are set to lock horns in a Championship clash at Ashton Gate this Saturday, September 30th.

The matchup in question will see Bristol City act as hosts, in a meeting with Stoke City.

Beginning with the former, Bristol City currently find themselves in the midst of something of a hit-and-miss stretch of form.

All told, across their last six outings in all competitions, the Robins have notched a record of two wins, two draws, and two defeats.

Most recently, after thoroughly impressing en route to putting four goals past Plymouth Argyle the week prior, Nigel Pearson’s troops made the trip to the King Power Stadium, for a showdown with high-flying Leicester City.

And, when all was said and done, they were brought firmly back down to earth, Jamie Vardy’s spot-kick midway through the 2nd-half affording Leicester a thoroughly deserved three points.

And Bristol City will likely fancy their chances of clinching precisely that, up against a Stoke City outfit who look altogether out of sorts at present.

The Potters have endured nothing short of a nightmare time of things over recent weeks, slipping to defeat in five of their last seven across all competitions.

The latest came in midweek, when Alex Neil’s men were sent packing from the Carabao Cup by Bournemouth.

Prior to this, on the league front, Stoke played host to Hull, hopeful of building on a hard-fought point at Huddersfield Town.

When all was said and done at the Bet365 Stadium, however, a late Andre Vidigal strike proved to be little more than a consolation, en route to a 3-1 loss.

Now sitting in a lowly 20th in the table, just two points clear of the bottom three, we at 101 envision the Potters’ woes deepening ever further on Saturday, too, backing hosts Bristol City to ultimately emerge on the right side of the result at Ashton Gate.
