LASK vs Liverpool match preview

One of the more one-sided fixtures of the Europa League group stage’s opening round is set to play out in Linz, Austria.

This comes as LASK prepare to play host to Jurgen Klopp’s Premier League heavyweights Liverpool.

Beginning with the former, LASK, for their part, have enjoyed a solid domestic campaign to date, sitting 3rd in the Austrian Bundesliga owing to a record of four wins and two draws from seven.

On the continent, meanwhile, Die Laskler booked their spot in the group stages of the Europa League by way of a hard-fought two-legged downing of Bosnian outfit Zrinjski.

After Robert Zuji bagged twice in the tie’s opener, Branko Jovicic’s solitary return leg strike proved enough for a 3-2 aggregate triumph.

Safe to say, though, that LASK’s efforts could not have given rise to a much more daunting challenge in waiting…

Liverpool, for their part, will be brimming with confidence ahead of the clash, having begun to look close to their scintillating best over recent weeks.

Like their upcoming hosts, the Reds sit 3rd in the table at home at present, amid a stretch of four successive victories.

Most recently, this past weekend, a trip to Molineux to face Wolves saw Jurgen Klopp and co. battle their way back from an early goal down, to ultimately emerge on the right side of a 3-1 result.

In truth, though, form should make little difference here, with the quality on show across Liverpool’s squad likely to prove far too much for a vastly inferior LASK outfit to contend with.
